The Museum of the Horse at Chantilly
The Museum of the Horse is situated in Chantilly a short train ride from Paris. This is a unique place, and the Museum is housed in the Grand Stables of the Château de Chantilly. It seeks to show the public the world of horses through a rich collection of objects and paintings. Kids and grown-ups will also enjoy the equestrian demonstrations and dressage sessions featuring Friesian horses, Thoroughbreds and Shetlands. The Great Stables are a veritable masterpiece of 18th-century architecture, housing the Museum of the Horse with over 200 items and artworks dedicated to the equestrian world. How to get there: Take the 22-minute train or RER from Gare du Nord train station in Paris to the Chantilly-Gouvieux station, and then a 15-minute stroll to the château.

Equestrian horse shows for all the family
If you are looking for some family entertainment including a show with horses. Since 1989, the spectacular performances by the horseman Bartabas are a perfect blend of equestrian art, dance, music and theatre; all enriched with popular traditions from all over the world.  Every year, Bartabas and his troupe take up their winter quarters at the Théâtre Equestre Zingaro at the Fort d’Aubervilliers which is accessible by metro. How to get there: From Paris to Fort d’Aubervilliers and take the Line 7 subway which takes 10 minutes.

Bartabas also directs the first Académie de Spectacle Equestre in the prestigious setting of the Grand Stables of the Palace of Versailles. This school is open to top-level horsemen and women whom it trains daily in the time-honoured techniques of dressage whilst at the same time familiarizing them with art disciplines such as music, dance and song … all in perpetual movement. Visitors can come and admire the prowess of some 30 horses: Lusitanos, Argentine Criollos, thoroughbred Arabs and Sorraias, and attend the daily training sessions to music of the 13 horsemen and women of the academy during the ‘Matinales des Ecuyers’ or the equestrian show ‘La Voie de l’écuyer’. The Salon du Cheval de Paris (Paris Horse Show)
In Paris, horses too have a trade show of their own. Every year, the Salon du Cheval de Paris, held at the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte, plays host to more than one thousand animals and festive special events. Highlights include the Gucci Masters, the Nuit du Cheval and the Défilé de Paris… A bumper equestrian event for all the family!

Description
In recent years, the show has been taking place at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. Featuring 2,500 horses, it offers you the chance to immerse yourself in the world of horses.

Some 450 exhibitors will be present and will give you advice and information on looking after the health and day-to-day care of horses, breeds of horses, the behaviour of horses and so much more.

Several sporting highlights of the show: the Paris Indoor Horse Competition (show jumping, dressage, eventing, harness, vaulting etc), the Longines Masters de Paris international horse jumping, and the World Arabian Horse Championship. Not forgetting festive events such as the Salon du Cheval Parade in which horses and horse-drawn carriages travel through the streets of the capital, and the Night of the Horse.

And there is a village with free events especially for children: the opportunity for kids to discover the world of ponies and maybe even have their first pony ride.

Dimanche’s Au Galop in Paris (Sunday at the Races)
Les Dimanche’s au Galop is a highlight of the equestrian world. France Galop invites the public to two Parisian racecourses (Paris Longchamp and Auteuil) for free, during Spring. On the programme: an afternoon of horses, races and special outdoor activities and attractions!

Every Sunday, the range of special horse-related events takes on a new theme. The public can also watch horse races, scheduled every half hour and special equestrian events. More info on the Dimanche’s au galop
