Experience the Prestigious CHIO Aachen with Snaffle Travel
Since 2017, Snaffle Travel has been attending the CHIO Aachen, a premier equestrian event held annually in Aachen, Germany, near the borders of Belgium and the Netherlands. This renowned festival attracts approximately 360,000 spectators over ten days, featuring competitions in jumping, dressage, eventing, four-in-hand driving, and vaulting.
A Showcase of Equestrian Excellence
Each year, the world’s top riders and horses are invited to compete at CHIO Aachen. As three-time ROLEX Grand Prix winner and five-time Olympic Jumping Champion Ludger Beerbaum states, “In the world of horse sport, Aachen is simply the greatest; it is what we all work towards.” Team World Eventing Champion Bettina Hoy describes the competitions as “riding with goosebumps.”
A Gathering Beyond Equestrian Sport
CHIO Aachen serves as a prominent meeting place for celebrities from politics, business, and entertainment. Families, groups, and horse sport enthusiasts gather annually to enjoy their favourite competitions. The cross-country and driving marathon courses create a festival-like atmosphere, drawing local crowds from near and far.
A Legacy of Equestrian Legends
Over the decades, many equestrian legends have competed at CHIO Aachen, including Hans Günter Winkler, Josef Neckermann, Nelson Pessoa, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, Michael Freund, and Isabell Werth. As Winkler, the most successful jumping rider of all time, stated, “You must have won at Aachen to be someone in the equestrian sport world.”
